Do What You Love - And Love What You Do !

“I believe you should live each day as if it is your last, which is why I don't have any clean laundry, because, come on, who wants to wash clothes on the last day of their life?”

I came across this quote today, and it made me laugh. Don't we all have days when we know there are things that "should" be done, but we just don't feel like investing our time in them? If our lives are reasonably well organized, we can afford to shun waiting tasks once in a while. Of course, if we had that attitude every day, within a relatively short time our lives would be chaos, and we would no longer feel that wonderful sense of freedom we initially felt when we first chose to ignore our responsibilities. If we find ourselves regularly ignoring what must be done, it is time to assess our life situation, and come up with a plan to restructure and re-prioritize.

A life with little joy and great burdens is a life that needs tweaking - and even the most "impossible" situation can be improved!

Some people like to tackle one or two disagreeable tasks each day - others prefer to do them all at once, giving themselves the rest of the week to enjoy doing the things they love. Look at the responsibilties you have, and first decide whether or not they really are your responsibility. Are there complications in your world that you can release without the ceiling falling in? If so, let them go. If not, how can you complete those tasks, and not lose your zest for living - your joy? Come up with small ways to reward yourself when the job is done, and congratulate yourself on not procrastinating where others might.
The key to joyful living is to do more of what you love - (how can you make time and room in your life for this? Look at how you spend your waking hours, and see if you can find more "space" for the things you love!) - and to find ways to better enjoy the things you have to do. A minor shift in time management, and in your attitude toward your present responsibilities, will give you a brighter outlook on your life - and more time to devote to the things in your life that enhance you!
